State Auto Insurance Group member Rockhill Insurance Group announced Monday that it has appointed Tracy Upton to lead the new E&S property unit.

Upton is “a 30-year insurance veteran with a specialization in startup programs and operations,” a release said. He was recently associated with Everest National, where he established and administered the company’s wholesale property operations for a decade. Upton was previously a foundational leader of the E&S property and inland marine division of Colony Insurance Group. He also helped develop the urban revitalization building and neighborhood program at the St. Paul Companies.

He received an Inland Marine Underwriters Association national award while at St. Paul. Upton holds a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation. He also holds a bachelor’s degree from the College of Wooster.

“We are extremely excited that we could bring Tracy on our team to help us build out our internal property capabilities, while working to maintain our current outsourced relationships,” said State Auto Senior Vice President/Director of Commercial and Specialty Lines Jessica Clark. “His proven track record of starting and profitably growing new operations brings us tremendous confidence in our future in the E&S property market.”
