Roosevelt Road Specialty has appointed Brendan Cook (pictured above) as chief underwriting officer (CUO) for property. The specialty managing general underwriter said the appointment supports its continued focus on expanding its property underwriting capabilities.
Cook brings more than 20 years of experience in commercial property insurance, reinsurance and catastrophe risk management.
He most recently served as vice president and managing director at RB Jones Inc., formerly Global Excess Partners, where he was responsible for property underwriting and operations across several lines, including middle market, large property, flood, builders’ risk and terrorism. During his time there, he led an effort to revise underwriting guidelines and renegotiate reinsurance arrangements with both Lloyd’s syndicates and other global carriers.
Prior to his role at RB Jones, Cook held senior underwriting and leadership positions at QBE North America and Crum & Forster. At both firms, he worked on the development of underwriting teams, implementation of national strategies and catastrophe risk oversight. His experience spans both admitted and non-admitted markets, with an emphasis on managing complex property exposures and maintaining underwriting discipline.
In his new position, Cook will oversee Roosevelt Road Specialty’s property underwriting strategy, including risk selection, portfolio development, and innovation across the platform. His responsibilities will also include strengthening broker relationships and aligning underwriting operations with the firm’s broader growth objectives.
“Brendan’s background in underwriting and risk analysis will play an important role as we continue to grow our property business,” said Dan Hickey Jr., CEO of Roosevelt Road Specialty. “His understanding of both the technical and operational aspects of the market positions him well to lead our underwriting efforts in this area.”
Cook will work alongside Roosevelt Road Specialty’s leadership team to support underwriting performance and operational goals. His appointment comes as the company continues to build out its specialty insurance capabilities in property and other lines.
