Smart Choice appoints new VP of sales and distribution
The nation’s fastest-growing insurance agency network has appointed a new vice president of sales and distribution.

Industry veteran David Wilson will step into the role. Wilson most recently worked for Regions Insurance Group, where he was responsible for the profit and growth of the personal lines division. He’s also worked for Smart Choice partner MetLife Auto & Home.

Smart Choice president Andrew Caldwell said Wilson was a key partner from the company’s earliest days.

“David was instrumental in advocating for the success of our program from the beginning, and he has worked diligently as a carrier partner of ours for many years,” Caldwell said. “He brings a vast background of experience in sales, marketing, and agency development, with the benefit of a unique perspective from the carrier side of the industry. We are all excited to have him with us and leading the efforts of our sales team.”

“I am very pleased and excited to be joining the Smart Choice team,” Wilson said. “I have witnessed the organization grow and expand for the past 15 years, and their commitment to the independent insurance agent is unmatched, in my opinion.”

In his new role, Wilson will work to develop and expand Smart Choice’s Express Markets division. The division is currently responsible for $150 million a year in written premium and has seen record growth over the last two years.
