CRC Group, a national wholesale distributor of specialty insurance products, has announced that it has hired the team and purchased the renewal rights for the business of Griffin General Agency, a Texas-based MGA.

“Griffin General Agency has a long history of success in personal and small commercial lines in the Houston market,” said Dave Obenauer, CEO of CRC Group. “We are excited to welcome the Griffin team to CRC Group, and we are confident this combination will bring significant benefits to our retail agency customers across South Texas.”

“Joining CRC Group will give our team access to additional markets and products, which is critical to help our agents win in today’s more challenging market,” said John Griffin, president of Griffin General Agency. “Our team is also excited to access CRC Group’s REDY platform, which will allow us to be more efficient and targeted in our placements for binding and personal lines.”

Griffin General Agency operations include commercial P&C binding and personal lines. The addition of Griffin continues CRC Group’s investment in its binding franchise. It follows the 2020 acquisitions of California-based W. Brown & Associates and Louisiana-based Specialty Risk Associates. CRC Binding has also added more than 85 new producers and opened several new binding offices over the past two years.
