The Pennsylvania Insurance Department has warned nearly 43,000 drivers in the state that they need to find new auto insurance by midnight tonight.

On March 22, the state’s insurance commissioner, Jessica Altman, announced that a Texas court had ordered the liquidation of Access Insurance Company after the company was determined to be insolvent. Access is an auto insurer with 42,785 policies in Pennsylvania, according to a report by local news affiliate ABC 6.

Pennsylvanians who had auto insurance through Access continued to have coverage after the court order was signed on March 13 – but that coverage only lasted for 30 days. Altman said that all Access Insurance Company policies will terminate at 11:59pm tonight.

“Pennsylvania drivers who have coverage through Access Insurance Company should file any claims that may arise at www.access.com, or by calling 1-866-747-6931, until their current policy expires or until April 12,” she said in a release.

Altman also said that pre-paid premiums would be refunded to policyholders “as soon as practical.”
