TWFG’s managing general agency channel grew 78% year-over-year in Q3 2026, pushing MGA revenues to $24.8 million and lifting the channel’s share of total written premium from approximately 16% to 20% over the past twelve months. That is why commission income grew 25.9% in the quarter while total written premium grew only 18.5%.

The MGA carries commission rates above 20%, against roughly 12% to 13% in the Agency-in-a-Box network, so the faster the MGA grows, the wider that gap becomes.

What the margin picture shows

That mix shift is structurally positive for TWFG’s earnings quality, but Q3 also showed where the friction is. Adjusted EBITDA margin came in at 24.4%, down from 26.5% in Q3 2025 and from 30.4% in Q2 2026. The sequential compression of roughly 6 points in a single quarter is the more important comparison. The announcement attributes a portion of the compression to non-recurring legal and professional fees tied to capital markets and credit facility activities, with $1.775 million classified as other non-recurring items in Q3. Strip those out and the margin picture improves, but does not fully recover to Q2 levels.

The underlying dynamic is that MGA growth decelerated from Q2’s exceptional pace. In Q2 2026, TWFG’s MGA channel drove a 290% year-over-year revenue surge, powered by Florida homeowners programs scaling rapidly. By Q3, MGA revenue growth had moderated to 78%. Still strong, but a material step-down from Q2, and one that narrowed the margin benefit the channel provides.

Volume doing what rate used to do

TWFG’s own language in the earnings release marks the shift: growth in Q3 was volume-led rather than rate-driven. Through the hard market cycle, rising premiums boosted commission income without requiring proportional increases in headcount or infrastructure. As rates moderate across personal and commercial lines, policy count growth and new business production now have to do more of that work.

Commercial renewal rates continued slowing across most lines in Q3, and personal auto pricing has been negative in several sub-segments through much of 2026. TWFG’s organic revenue growth rate of 16.6% in Q3, accelerating from 10.2% in Q3 2025, shows the platform is managing that transition effectively so far.

CEO Gordy Bunch flagged in the Q2 earnings call that prior-year runoff premiums that renewed earlier in 2026 will not recur in the same periods in Q4, meaning organic growth in the final quarter could be materially lower than Q3’s rate.

Retention and the MGA book

MGA retention fell from 80% in Q3 2025 to 78% in Q3 2026, while insurance services retention held at 90%. The MGA book is relatively young, with new business accounting for 48% of Q3 MGA written premium, up from 33% a year ago, and younger books typically carry lower retention until the relationships mature.

In a softening-rate environment, however, retention becomes more important as a revenue driver because the pricing tailwind that makes renewal premium grow automatically is fading. How MGA retention develops through 2027 will determine whether the channel’s commission-rate advantage translates into durable margin expansion or remains volatile.

The broader quarter

Total revenues reached $79.9 million, up 24.6%. Net income was $9 million, down from $9.6 million in Q3 2025, as higher depreciation and amortization from acquisitions, increased salary costs, and legal fees weighed on the GAAP result. Adjusted net income rose 16.3% to $15.1 million. Cash and cash equivalents stood at $77.8 million at September 30, with the company’s $125 million revolving credit facility fully undrawn.

TWFG updated its full-year 2026 outlook, narrowing the organic revenue growth range to 15% to 17% from the prior 13% to 17% range, and tightening the Adjusted EBITDA margin floor to 24% from 23%.

TWFG will host an Investor Day on November 12 at its home office in The Woodlands, Texas.
