Insurance Business America has released the results of its 5-Star Claims 2026 special report, identifying the top commercial insurance carriers for claims handling in the US as evaluated by brokers across the country. The report comes as the US commercial claims environment faces a range of pressures, including rising litigation severity, nuclear verdicts, and an expanding litigation funding industry directing capital toward plaintiff-side cases.
To produce the list, Insurance Business America drew on its national network of brokers and industry professionals. Insurers that received a sufficient volume of broker nominations were invited to submit detailed documentation of their claims capabilities, including service standards, turnaround times, dispute resolution processes, technological innovation, and broker support frameworks.
The research team evaluated both quantitative survey results and qualitative insurer submissions. Final scores were calculated based on broker ratings across key performance indicators, with additional weighting applied to consistency of service and demonstrated outcomes. The 5-Star Claims designation was awarded to carriers that met the threshold for broker ratings while also demonstrating performance in claims management, operational efficiency, and broker engagement.
