Hub snaps up crop insurance agency

Mergers & Acquisitions

By Ryan Smith

Global brokerage Hub International Limited has announced that it has acquired the assets of Jerry Baird Insurance Agency and Baird Crop Insurance Agency (together, Baird). The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Based in Fresno, Calif., Baird specializes in crop and commercial insurance, with a particular focus on the agribusiness and farm sector. The acquisition supports Hub’s specialty practices by complementing and strengthening its existing capabilities, the company said.

Jace Baird, president of Baird, will report to Michael Der Manouel, executive vice president of Hub California Central Valley. The Baird team will join Hub California.

The deal is the latest in Hub’s acquisition spree. Last week, the global broker announced that it had acquired Verity Insurance, a broker specializing in the consumer electronics and manufacturing sectors.
