Ryan Specialty Group (RSG) recently announced the appointment of Debra Goldberg as chief underwriting officer of its medical professional liability series Sapphire Blue.

Debra Goldberg, JD, MPH, RPLU started her career as a medical malpractice defence attorney working with hospitals and healthcare providers in Cook County, Illinois as well as in the neighbouring areas. Goldberg also has extensive experience as an insurance coverage attorney with a specific focus on professional liability E&O coverage and reinsurance.

Sapphire Blue, a series under the RSG subsidiary RSG Underwriting Managers, specializes in delivering and developing bespoke solutions to complex healthcare risks.

In her capacity as chief underwriting officer, Goldberg will enhance and expand the firm’s underwriting portfolio, especially in the field of allied healthcare, the firm said in a statement.

Prior to her appointment with the RSG subsidiary, Goldberg worked as managing director of medical underwriting for Markel Corporation.
