Liberty Mutual Insurance has named Virna Rhodes (pictured) as SVP of its workers’ compensation claims organization.

Rhodes succeeds Wes Hyatt, who has been appointed to serve as chief client officer of Liberty Mutual’s Global Risk Solutions.

Prior to joining Liberty Mutual in 2013, Rhodes managed a range of claims teams at both Allstate Insurance and Farmers Insurance. At Allstate, she served in a number of roles including unit claims manager, claim education manager, and market claim manager. And at Farmers, she served as director of the company’s auto claims operation for nearly four years. Upon joining the Liberty Mutual team, Rhodes shifted her focus towards commercial insurance claims.

“Virna has the experience and vision needed to lead an organization that produces superior outcomes for the injured workers of our workers’ compensation policyholders and customers of Helmsman Management Services, our wholly-owned third-party administrator,” commented Liberty Mutual Global Risk Solutions chief claims officer Steve Deane. “She has a proven track record of success, including most recently leading our Shared Services operation to outstanding results.”

Rhodes earned her MBA at the University of Baltimore and has the Senior Claim Law Associate designation.

Liberty Mutual’s workers’ compensation claims operation managed over 300,000 new claims in 2020, which represented more than $3 billion in medical and indemnity payments.
