A workplace dispute in a California plant led to insurance fraud charges for Randal Brown McKay, who is out on a $25,000 bail following his February 1 arrest.

An investigation, and evidence based on video footage from the plant, determined that the suspect inflicted bodily harm on a co-worker following a 2014 altercation.

However, in police reports and insurance filings, McKay claimed he was struck by a forklift pallet during an argument with his co-worker and filed for a workers’ compensation claim.

The Orange County Register reported that the defendant is currently facing charges of assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury, three counts of insurance fraud and perjury, and an allegation of causing great bodily injury.
If convicted, he could serve an 11 year jail term.
