Zipline photos see man charged with insurance fraud

Workers Comp

A former New Jersey postal worker is facing insurance fraud charges after he posted photos online that seemed to contradict his claims of disability.

Robert McGeehan had claimed that a wrist injury prevented him from working. However, he allegedly posted photos online that showed him participating in extreme sports like ziplining and rock rappelling.

The New Jersey man now stands accused of stealing more than $75,000 in workers’ compensation benefits, according to a report by the Daily Journal.

McGeehan injured his wrist in 2008. The injury required arthroscopic surgery, but McGeehan was eventually cleared for light duty, according to the Journal. McGeehan, however, disputed that finding, claiming the wrist injury still prevented him from working.

In addition to the photos McGeehan posted online, postal service investigators say they obtained recordings of him performing strenuous yard work at his home.
