Dr. Ming Li is currently Global Head of Catastrophe Modeling at Acrisure Re. Ming leads the global catastrophe modeling effort to support (re)insurance renewals and the production of new (re)insurance opportunities. He also works closely with analytics colleagues and business leaders to provide tailored capital solutions to clients by delivering data-driven insights, assisting with catastrophe risk management, enhancing business profitability and evaluating client needs and reinsurance options.
Ming has more than 20 years of catastrophe modeling experience in the property and casualty (re)insurance industry. Prior to joining Acrisure Re, Ming was Managing Director, Global Strategic Advisory at Guy Carpenter, where he worked with various clients to help them manage catastrophe exposures. He was also involved in the firm’s effort to aggregate and interrogate client data and third-party data using data science techniques to reveal key trends and insights. Before that, he had served as global head of catastrophe modeling in JLT Re (acquired by Guy Carpenter in 2019). In that role, he oversaw the global catastrophe exposure modeling practice and led the effort to develop portfolio risk management tools.
