Intact Financial is providing premium adjustments to further help customers facing financial hardship and drastically reduced driving in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.

These new financial relief measures are in addition to the ones the company instituted last week, such as options for payment deferrals and waiving missed payment fees. According to Intact Financial, these payment options have provided individual and business customers with over $40 million in relief as of April 14, 2020.

Intact Financial is calling on/encouraging impacted customers to reach out to access relief measures, in addition to the previously announced ones, such as:

  • Personal auto insurance premium reductions of 15% on average for three months, reflecting changes in driving habits.
  • For personal auto insurance customers who keep their vehicles parked and safely stored, they can instead ask for premium reductions of 75% on average.
  • Premium adjustments for change of use or storage of commercial vehicles.

A release said that these relief measures will be in place up until and including June 30, 2020. These measures and premiums reductions are expected to result in over $150 million of relief for customers in total.

“Our business exists to help people and that purpose matters now more than ever,” said Intact Financial CEO Charles Brindamour. “Our teams are working around the clock to be responsive, and we are providing support to some of our most impacted customers. We continue to encourage customers to contact us so we can find the right solutions that best reflect their changing situation.”
