Arthur J. Gallagher & Co (AJG) has successfully acquired GPL Assurance in Montreal, Quebec.

Following the acquisition, GPL president and CEO Louis-Thomas Labbé and his associates will continue to operate their current locations in Montreal and Laval, Quebec. They will report to AJG Canadian brokerage operations head Stephen Bryant.

“GPL has an excellent reputation for superior client service, niche expertise and risk-management-led programs, with a team-based culture and family values similar to Gallagher’s,” said AJG chairman, president, and CEO J. Patrick Gallagher, Jr. in a release.

“Their strong geographic presence in Quebec will be an excellent complement to our existing Canadian operations in other provinces. We are very happy to welcome Louis-Thomas and his colleagues to our growing Gallagher family of professionals.”

The retail insurance broker GPL, founded 1968, offers commercial property and casualty insurance to large corporations, middle-market, and small business clients. The broker also provides personal lines solutions for individuals. GPL specializes in creating risk management and insurance programs for the construction, knowledge-economy and commercial/SME sectors.

Terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.
