AXA XL has appointed Renato Rodrigues to serve as country manager for Canada.

Rodrigues assumes his new duties immediately; he will lead AXA XL’s business strategy and overall insurance operations in Canada. Specifically, he will oversee the company’s regional offices in Toronto, Calgary, Montreal, and Vancouver.

He succeeds Glen Hopkinson, AXA XL interim country manager for Canada.

As part of his appointment, Rodrigues and his family will relocate from Sao Paulo to Toronto once COVID-19 travel restrictions are lifted.

Rodrigues most recently served as regional leader of AXA XL in Latin America, and he also held the position of country manager for AXA XL Brazil for seven years.

“We are delighted to see Renato pivot towards a new market of great appetite for AXA XL. He has extensive experience leading international commercial insurance across the Americas,” said AXA XL CEO Americas Joe Tocco. “He is a fantastic team leader and brings a wealth of knowledge in commercial P&C insurance and overall business strategy which will support our growth objectives in Canada.”

“I am excited to move to Canada to take on this new challenge and support our fantastic team of talented experts there,” commented Rodrigues on his appointment. “Together we will continue to build our business focusing on providing outstanding service to our partners, clients and brokers.”
