Breaking News: The Co-operators acquires another Ontario brokerage

Exactly one month after it announced the purchase of Browning Insurance Ltd, the Co-operators has revealed its next acquisition in the province

Co-operators General Insurance Company has announced that it is acquiring Bando & Brown General Insurance, an Ontario brokerage that services clients in the London metro area, as well as Kitchener-Waterloo and Toronto.

Bandy & Brown General Insurance, founded in 2001 by three family members, offers a portfolio of personal and commercial insurance products. All of its employees have obtained the CAIB designation.

As with last month’s purchase of Browning Insurance Ltd, the brokerage’s clients will be informed of the ownership change and told that their coverage will remain in effect until the policies expire. At that time, they will be presented with the option of enrolling in a “comparable” offering from the Co-operators.

The P&C insurer says that this acquisition is instrumental to its plans of continuing to expand across Canada.

"We're pleased to be strengthening our presence and growing our agency distribution system in Ontario and across the country, which is part of our growth strategy," Kathy Bardswick, president and CEO of The Co-operators, said in a statement.

In addition to Browning Insurance Ltd, the Co-operators also acquired Carleton Insurance Brokers Ltd, the Premier group of companies and Bill Hartley Insurance Services earlier this year.
