Global law firm Clyde & Co has announced the appointment of Charles A. Foucreault (pictured above) as a partner in its Montreal office, responsible for advising clients on civil liability and insurance law.

Foucreault has extensive experience in civil and commercial litigation. He specializes in professional liability, product liability, general liability, class actions, defense, coverage, and regulatory work in Quebec, with a particular focus on property and construction law, directors and officers’ liability, errors & omissions insurance, and cyber risk.

Prior to joining Clyde & Co, Foucreault worked at Norton Rose Fulbright Canada, where he started his legal career in 2008 and became a partner in 2016.

He has also advised insurance carriers and brokers on Quebec insurance legislation and key legislative changes as part of his regulatory work. This includes assisting carriers, adjusters, and third-party administrators with the drafting and compliance of insurance wording in both English and Québécois French.

Eileen King Bower, partner and chair of Clyde & Co’s North American board, expressed her excitement over Foucreault’s appointment, stating that his addition will strengthen the firm’s insurance offering in Montreal and Canada.

Louis-Philippe Constant, partner at Clyde & Co in Montreal, also welcomed Foucreault and called his addition to the team a “real coup” that is welcomed by their clients and colleagues.

“Charles has a strong understanding of the Canadian insurance market and particularly adds local municipal liability expertise to our offering,” he added.

Clyde & Co has been operating in Canada since 2011, with offices in Montreal and Toronto. It has since expanded to Vancouver in 2021 and Calgary in 2022.

“Clyde & Co is the leading insurance brand globally and is unparalleled in the Montreal market,” Foucreault said. “The firm has the best platform for me to grow my insurance practice and succeed, so this move makes absolute sense for me.”
