HSB Canada, a multi-line specialty insurer and the risk management business arm of Munich Re, has named Jeff Walker as head of its treaty reinsurance, broker and MGA distribution divisions.

Walker (pictured), who is senior vice president and chief distribution officer, joined HSB Canada in May and has over 18 years of experience in the insurance industry. He will report to HSB Canada president and CEO John Mulvihill.

His track record includes executive leadership roles with responsibilities for sales and business development, brand marketing and communications, property claims and digital strategy.

Before he came to HSB Canada, Walker spent more than 10 years at Intact. His most recent role was vice president, Ontario claims, property, investigative services and supply chain, according to his LinkedIn account.

“We are pleased to have Jeff onboard to support HSB Canada as we expand our product offerings and services to better support and create opportunities for our clients,” said Mulvihill.

“HSB Canada has a strong foundation of great people, strong values, and a stable product core,” said Walker. “With the addition of new products and a continued focus on our strategic partnerships, there are great opportunities for growth.”

HSB Canada is one of several insurers that have recently reaffirmed its commitment to a nationwide broker campaign by the Insurance Brokers Association of Canada (IBAC).

“A strong independent broker network is crucial to the health and success of the insurance industry,” Tammy Paris, AVP regional offices and insurance operations, said of the renewed partnership. “HSB Canada fully supports IBAC’s endeavours to advocate on behalf of our broker partners to government and the greater community.”
