iA Financial Group has appointed Michael L. Stickney to the role of executive vice-president and chief growth officer, effective September 01, 2019.

Stickney will oversee growth initiatives for all of iA Financial’s business lines in both Canada and the US. In his new role, he will work closely with executive vice-president of corporate development Lilia Sham on acquisition opportunities. A release mentioned that Stickney will also remain a member of the company’s planning committee.

The executive first joined iA Financial in 1999, following the acquisition of Seaboard Life. Stickney was head of iA Financial’s dealer services and special markets solutions divisions, before assuming his most recent role as executive vice-president of US development. He began his insurance career in 1976 and served a number of insurance-related positions.

Stickney has a bachelor’s degree in science (mathematics) and an MBA from the University of British Columbia. He is also a fellow of the Society of Actuaries and of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries.

“In his previous roles with iA Financial Group, Mike has been involved in the development of businesses that are now making a significant contribution to our results. Most recently, he was the head of our US operations, which have experienced strong growth organically and through acquisitions under his leadership,” said iA Financial president and CEO Denis Ricard.

Ricard added that Stickney’s new role will help him contribute to the company’s objectives by supporting the execution of growth strategies in all lines of business.
