Intact Insurance has added Guardian Group and Ceylinco Insurance as partners in the Intact Global Network, expanding its multinational reach from more than 150 countries and territories to more than 170.

Guardian Group extends Intact’s presence across the Caribbean, complementing existing network partners in Trinidad and the Bahamas. It adds Aruba, Anguilla, Antigua, Barbados, Belize, Bonaire, the British Virgin Islands, Curaçao, Grenada, Guyana, Montserrat, Saba, Saint Eustatius, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, Sint Maarten and St. Vincent. Ceylinco Insurance adds the Maldives.

The network allows businesses to buy coordinated multinational programs, with locally compliant policies issued through network partners in each country under central oversight.

“Expanding our network to more than 170 countries and territories worldwide gives our brokers and customers greater confidence that they can access high-quality local expertise and consistent service wherever they operate,” said Barbara O’Reilly, vice-president, global network and multinational, UK and Europe, at Intact Insurance.

O’Reilly said the expansion was another step toward Intact’s ambition to be a leading global specialty lines insurer.

A Canadian-owned global push

The network sits within Intact’s international business, which grew significantly after Toronto-based parent Intact Financial Corporation acquired RSA in 2021. Intact Financial is Canada’s largest property and casualty insurer. RSA and NIG were rebranded as Intact Insurance across the UK, Ireland and Europe in October 2025.

Specialty lines and multinational capability have become a growing focus for the group outside Canada. Several carriers have also strengthened their local presence in recent weeks, including Starr in Italy, Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance in Poland and HDI Global in France.

Why the Caribbean matters for Canadian business

The Caribbean expansion is particularly relevant to Canadian companies. Canadian banks, insurers and other businesses have long-standing operations across the region. Canadian tourism and hospitality investment also give many firms exposure to Caribbean property and liability risks.

Many of the newly added territories are small markets where finding locally compliant cover can be difficult. They also carry significant hurricane exposure, which makes local policy issuance and local claims support important when a storm strikes.

For Canadian brokers with commercial clients operating in the Caribbean or the Maldives, the expansion adds network options for locally compliant cover under a coordinated multinational program.

Brokers should confirm how Canadian-headquartered clients can access the Intact Global Network, and check how each new partner handles local policy issuance, premium tax and claims service. As with any multinational program, the size of the network counts for less than the quality of service in each country when a claim arises.
