Markel International, a specialist re/insurer, has made several promotions within its trade credit, political risk and surety business.

The promotions are part of its restructuring of the team to reflect the needs of its broker clients for global engagement across the three business lines.

Adrian Jones adopts the role of head of strategic development for Asia and the Middle East in addition to his existing senior underwriter role.

Leroy Almeida is appointed as head of the Middle East operation, which now incorporates marine and directors and officers liability (D&O) product lines.

Abhishek Chhajer continues to lead the trade credit operation in the Asia-Pacific region.

Simon Moon becomes head of risk underwriting and Carl Titterton, head of commercial underwriting for the trade credit operation.

Nicola Marriage becomes head of political risk while Damian Manning remains head of surety.

For the firm’s international operations, Arjan Van de Wall was named global development director. He is responsible for giving brokers access to the team’s areas of expertise across all geographies and will drive global solutions for large multinational clients.

Meanwhile, Philip Amlot was appointed as head of trade credit and political risk for the Americas.

“Since the launch of the business in 2010, we have expanded our geographic reach across the US, Canada, Singapore and Dubai in addition to the London presence and have added political risk and surety product lines to the trade credit operation,” commented Ewa Rose, managing director for trade credit, political risk and surety at Markel.

“The new structure gives leadership responsibility to the separate business lines, while providing an overarching, multi-product business development role that can engage effectively with our brokers.”
