P&C insurer Aviva Canada has formed a partnership with Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment (MLSE), the company behind ice hockey team Toronto Maple Leafs and basketball team Toronto Raptors, it was announced yesterday.

The new program will provide fans with the opportunity to purchase branded insurance coverage for both teams across home and auto, which the firms say are the first of their kind in Canada.

“Leafs and Raptors fans can expect to experience insurance through a branded customer journey that keeps their team front and centre from start to finish,” Jason Storah, executive vice president, Aviva Canada, said, adding that the insurer has been “fans of both teams for years.”

The coverage will be delivered through an easy-to-use digital experience at a competitive price, the partners said in a release, and will “provide unique engagement opportunities that connect fans with the Maple Leafs and Raptors like never before.”

David Hopkinson, chief commercial officer at MLSE, said that the sports firm is always exploring new opportunities to reward the teams’ fans for their loyalty, and to develop a closer relationship with them.

“Our fans carry their passion for the Maple Leafs and Raptors into every facet of their lives,” he added.

“Partnering with one of Canada’s top names in home and auto insurance allows our fans access to an innovative and quality insurance product that will provide them with the protection they need in their lives along with the opportunity to get closer to the teams they love.”
