Wawanesa Mutual Insurance has announced that it will donate US$10,000 towards the American Red Cross, as it helps communities affected by Hurricane Harvey.

“Our hearts are with all those affected by Hurricane Harvey, particularly those who have been displaced from their homes,” said Wawanesa senior vice-president and chief human resources officer Jodi Carradice in a statement.

“This donation is intended to help fund recovery efforts and to show our support for the thousands of people impacted by the devastation.”

“When disaster strikes, we are given an opportunity to stand behind our neighbours in empathy and support,” added Wawanesa US Operations president Chris Henn. “Our thoughts are with the people in Texas and in the Gulf Coast during this difficult time.”

Although Wawanesa does not operate in Texas, it has had a long history of offering aid in times of disaster.
