The Canadian Farm Builders Association (CFBA) is set to hold its annual conference event this week, with the event marking the organization’s 40th anniversary.

CFBA’s conference – to be held February 28, 2020 in Stratford, ON – aims to educate members and other industry stakeholders on issues surrounding the farm-building industry. These stakeholders include farm builders, engineers, representatives of the government, building inspectors and farm building-related product and service providers.

The event will also include an annual general meeting of all CFBA members. Guest speakers have been tapped to present for much of the day, as well. Topics to be discussed include national building code, innovations in agricultural concrete, reducing fire risk in farms, farm electrical safety, and farm building health & safety.

Of note, Cowan Group will be co-presenting a discussion on builders’ risk insurance for agricultural buildings.

ConstructConnect reported that CFBA’s event will also host an Annual Builder Awards competition, which recognizes CFBA members with the best project in each of nine categories – dairy, swine, poultry, other livestock, farm storage, hobby/recreational, commercial/institutional, as well as two categories for horses (one category for horse projects up to $750K, another for projects above $750K). There will also be a Project of the Year award, given to the most popular vote.

Winners of the contest will be determined by voting among participants of the conference.
