Toronto-based managing general agent BOXX Insurance has named Phil Baker as president of BOXX Canada.
In addition to his role as president for BOXX’s Canadian operations, Baker will also be responsible for delivering the MGA’s insurance strategy globally as global head of insurance.
Baker joins BOXX from Beazley Canada, where he was board chairman and head of broker relations. He joined Beazley in 2017 after it had acquired Creechurch Underwriters – the MGA Baker had served as president and CEO for. Baker also previously headed the financial and professional lines business unit for Travelers Canada.

Nowhere is this felt more than by everyday businesses and consumers who have historically been ill-served by insurers,” said Baker. “The opportunity to help democratise access to both cyber insurance and digital protection through BOXX's all-in-one platform is incredibly exciting."

In addition to Baker’s appointment, BOXX Insurance announced that it has added Zurich Insurance and Hartford Steam Boiler as its new insurance provider partners. The company said that Baker will manage these relationships and continue to form new ones as BOXX expands into new markets and segments.
