Major Ontario brokerage McDougall Insurance and Financial (McDougall) has merged with fellow Ontario brokerage Rayburn Insurance Brokers (Rayburn).

Rayburn is a successful broker operating in Tweed, with history dating back 101 years. As part of the deal, Rayburn joined McDougall on April 1, 2023, to form an independent broker with 42 offices in Eastern Ontario, the Ottawa Valley, Central Ontario, and Western Ontario with 350 employees and over $500 million in property casualty premium.

McDougall CEO Ross McDougall has welcomed Rayburn employees to the major brokerage, noting that the branch office location will continue despite the merger.

“We have a long-standing and excellent relationship with current owner Adam Woolfrey and his father Paul Woolfrey, and we are delighted to have them join the McDougall team,” McDougall said.

“Our brokerage is committed to continuing our growth pattern and offering great service and great products for our customers.”

The announcement follows the merger of McDougall and another Ontario-headquartered insurance brokerage Brown & Brethour Insurance Brokers Ltd (Brown & Brethour).
