StoneRidge Insurance Brokers (SIB) has announced its acquisition of Jim Kelly Insurance Brokers Ltd. as part of its ongoing expansion across Ontario.
The transaction marks SIB’s first completed deal of 2025, with two additional acquisitions expected to finalise in the next three months.
Jim Kelly Insurance, based in Pickering, ON, is a full-service brokerage that has operated for four decades. It has remained a family-owned firm and provides insurance services across the Greater Toronto Area.
Ted Puccini, CEO and president of SIB, said the acquisition supports the brokerage’s growth strategy in Ontario and nationally.
SIB has been active in the Canadian insurance market through a series of acquisitions and strategic partnerships. The firm has indicated that further deals are expected in the near term.
Financially, SIB reported an estimated annual revenue of $46.7 million in 2024, with a workforce of approximately 193 employees. The company operates over 140 offices across Canada, handling more than $1 billion in gross written premiums.
Earlier in the year, SIB entered a partnership with Crossroads Insurance, a full-service brokerage operating in Winnipeg, Manitoba. This collaboration aimed to enhance SIB's capabilities in the region, allowing Crossroads to maintain its independence while leveraging SIB's resources.
Last year also saw SIB partnering with All-Risks Insurance Brokers. All-Risks, a Windsor-based brokerage with 74 locations throughout Ontario, arranges property, casualty, life, and health insurance, as well as investment products. Set up in 1954, the business boasts $325 million in gross written premium.
Another major deal for SIB in Ontario was in January last year, when it swooped for Seymour Fair Insurance Brokers as part of a move to expand its Southern Ontario footprint.
Located in St. Catharines, Ontario, Seymour Fair Insurance delivers a wide range of services, including personal automobile insurance, personal homeowners, builders’ risk, commercial property insurance, commercial automobile insurance, and liability insurance.
