Gallagher has appointed Elliot Miller (pictured) to the role of regional managing director for Scotland, Northern Ireland, and the North East of England.

As regional managing director, Miller will be responsible for leading over 200 colleagues who “look after a diverse portfolio of clients,” a release said. Their clients include large corporate organisations through to SMEs. Miller will also be based in Glasgow, and will report to Gallagher UK managing director of the North Peter Matthews.

With over 35 years of industry experience, Miller joins Gallagher from CNA Hardy, where he most recently served as head of UK regions for four years. In that role, he oversaw CNA Hardy’s UK-wide sales activities, and helped grow the business’s presence outside of London. He also previously served as general manager, UK & Ireland, at QBE.

“Having worked for insurers for many years, I am delighted to be embarking on a new chapter and moving to the broking side of the insurance industry. I have always viewed Gallagher as a progressive, forward-looking company and I have been impressed by both its organic growth and M&A activity in recent years,” commented Miller on his appointment.

Miller added that he looks forward to working with Gallagher’s teams in Scotland, Northern Ireland and the North East of England to “further enhance the local, on-the-ground service [the company] provide to [its] clients.”

“I am very pleased Elliot has taken on this leadership role within my team. He brings extensive insurance expertise plus experience of leading high-performing teams,” said Peter Matthews. “As we continue to invest in our regional presence, this senior appointment further demonstrates our commitment to bringing the highest calibre talent on board in order to provide our clients in Scotland, Northern Ireland and the North East of England with unrivalled expertise.”
