Ecclesiastical has retained its position as the UK's most trusted home insurer, topping the Fairer Finance Home Insurance league table for the 22nd time.

The specialist insurer secured a Gold Ribbon in a field of over 46 providers, including well-known brands such as NFU Mutual, Bank of Scotland, TSB, Lloyds Bank and NatWest.

Fairer Finance is an independent consumer group that surveys around 20,000 UK banking and insurance customers annually. It evaluates insurers based on customer trust and satisfaction, complaint handling (via Financial Ombudsman Service data), and transparency through mystery shopping and policy document reviews.

In this year's ranking, Ecclesiastical said it achieved an overall customer experience score of 77%, with particularly strong markets in "most trusted" and transparency categories.

Richard Coleman (pictured, left), managing director at Ecclesiastical, said the result reflects the company's ongoing focus on service and highlighted that as a charity-owned insurer, its profits are donated to good causes.

James Daley (pictured, right), managing director of Fairer Finance, noted the significance of Ecclesiastical's long track record, especially in a market where many insurers are under pressure from rising claims costs.

Other insurers performed strongly as well, with NFU Mutual, Bank of Scotland, TSB and Nationwide ranking high in trust and customer experience. NFU Mutual, for example, is second in the home insurance trust category, showing that mutual and high-street insurers remain competitive in delivering reliable service.

The Fairer Finance rankings carry potential industry-wide impact. High rankings can influence consumer choice, strengthen brand reputation, and encourage insurers to invest in transparency, claims handling, and customer service.

For the wider UK market, the table signals the growing importance of trust and clarity, particularly as consumers face rising premiums and complex policy options. Insurers outside the top tier may use the results as a benchmark to improve their processes, while strong performers can leverage the recognition to differentiate themselves in a competitive market.

Overall, the league table illustrates that while Ecclesiastical continues to lead, there is meaningful competition across the sector, and trust and transparency remain central to customer loyalty and long-term growth in the UK home insurance market.
