Centene Corporation has named Chris Neczypor as its next chief financial officer. He replaces Drew Asher, who steps down from the role on December 31, and retires from the company at the end of 2027.

Neczypor joins from Lincoln Financial Group, where he served as executive vice president and CFO since February 2023. He will join Centene in September and work alongside Asher before formally assuming the CFO title on January 1, 2027. Asher will remain through his retirement to support strategic initiatives and the handover.

Neczypor became Lincoln Financial's CFO after serving as its chief strategy officer from 2021. He joined Lincoln in 2018 as head of investment risk and strategy. Earlier in his career he was a senior sell-side analyst covering insurance at Goldman Sachs. He also held portfolio management roles at institutional asset management firms before joining Lincoln.

The transition comes as Centene works to consolidate a financial recovery following a difficult 2025. The company posted a full-year diluted loss of $13.53 per share that year after a $6.7 billion goodwill impairment charge booked in the third quarter.

Centene returned to $1.1 billion in quarterly profit by the second quarter of 2026, on revenues of $53.6 billion. The company raised its full-year 2026 adjusted diluted EPS guidance to greater than $4.80 following those results.

Centene is the largest Medicaid managed care organization in the US, covering members across 30 states. Revenue grew from approximately $126 billion in 2021, when Asher became CFO, to approximately $195 billion in 2025.

Sarah London, Centene's chief executive officer, said Neczypor brings a track record in financial performance and capital management. Asher said the foundation built during his tenure gave him confidence in the company's direction.
