Alliant Insurance Services has added Jeff Severino (pictured) as vice president within its employee benefits group, joining the firm's Alliant Affinity team in Kansas City. The appointment adds a specialist in association and affinity program design to a practice that Alliant has been staffing nationally over the past year.
The Affinity team operates within Alliant's employee benefits group and focuses on building and managing benefits programs for associations, alumni groups, and other member-based organizations. That segment differs structurally from standard employer-sponsored benefits consulting. Members of these groups typically access coverage through aggregated programs rather than individual employer plans, which places different demands on program design, pricing, and carrier negotiation.
A background that spans both sides of the transaction
Severino brings 25 years of experience covering brokerage, underwriting, and client advisory, with a focus on program business in the association and affinity market. His background also includes property and casualty, professional liability, management liability, and cyber programs.
Before joining Alliant, he served as a senior vice president overseeing management liability programs at national managing general agency MSI, giving him direct exposure to how programs are structured and priced from the carrier side. He holds the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation and has guest-lectured in the University of Iowa's undergraduate Risk Management and Insurance program.
Kevin Overbey, president of Alliant Employee Benefits, said Severino's ability "to evaluate risk, structure effective solutions, and build strong client relationships" gives the team a valuable perspective on program development.
Severino's hire is the latest in a sustained effort to grow Alliant's benefits presence across the Midwest. The firm has added multiple benefits consultants across Indiana, Ohio, Chicago, and Kansas City since 2022, with the Northwest and Midwest unit among those targeted for active expansion. Severino will work with clients nationwide from his Kansas City base, though the regional footprint gives the Affinity team a presence in a market it had not previously covered at this level.
