Pennsylvania police have accused a 63-year-old ex-insurance employee of stealing more than $50,000 from the company.

Jane Chelgren worked at Nicklas Insurance in St. Mary’s and stole from the company from 2014 until 2018, according to a report by WJAC news. Chelgren allegedly pocketed money by declining to report funds from customers who paid in cash.

Chelgren would keep some of the money and deposit the rest. WJAC said she would then modify accounts and deposits on the computer system to cover her tracks.

An investigation found that the ex-employee may have stolen more than $50,000 since 2014 – but she actually admitted to authorities that she had been stealing from Nicklas Insurance over the past 15 years.

She has been charged with several counts of theft and her hearing has been set for June 19.
