This week’s moves include a reorganization of senior claims leadership at Chubb, a new global head for a specialty crisis management business, and a new risk and reinsurance role at a California-based carrier.
Chubb has made three appointments in its global claims organization.
Lisa Wilson (pictured, left) becomes head of North America claims, effective immediately, overseeing commercial and personal lines claims and services across the region. She will lead claim handling and technical execution and further embed digital capabilities in the claims process. Wilson joined Chubb in 2023 and was most recently deputy head of North America claims. She previously led coverage and complex claims and ran Brandywine Holdings, Chubb’s legacy and run-off claims business. Before Chubb, she led legal and claims functions at CNA.
Norm Rafsol (pictured, center) becomes global claims technical director, effective immediately. He will strengthen how Chubb reports and monitors material claims, claim trends and emerging exposures, and provide technical oversight of complex and high-severity claims. Rafsol joined Chubb from AIG in 2007 and was most recently head of financial lines, cyber claims and claims segmentation.
Jamie Trish (pictured, right) becomes global claims operations officer from October 26, responsible for claim centers, vendor management and customer experience worldwide. She joined Chubb in 2024 and was most recently global transformation officer. She was previously president of Fairmatic and held senior roles at Allstate Business Insurance and Liberty Mutual.
All three report to Kevin Rampe, global claims officer. Wilson also reports to Juan Luis Ortega, president of North America Insurance.
“She has a proven track record leading teams with service and technical distinction,” Rampe said of Wilson.
Wilson’s background in coverage and complex claims suggests Chubb’s North America claims operation will continue to put weight on technical handling of disputed and high-value losses. Rafsol’s new role, monitoring claim trends and emerging exposures across the group, shows the importance large carriers now place on spotting severity trends early, particularly in financial lines and cyber.
Tokio Marine HCC’s Specialty Group has promoted Mark Hutton to chief underwriting officer and global head of crisis management, effective immediately. He takes over the global business from Sean Curtin, president of Specialty Group, and will cover kidnap and ransom, product recall, active assailant and related products in the US, Canada, South America, Europe and Asia. He continues to report to managing director Philip Hall.
Hutton joined in 2024 as head of crisis management, international, launching the group’s product recall offering in London. He previously led product recall globally at AXA XL.
Curtin said Hutton had built the international product recall business from the ground up.
Product recall and active assailant cover are niche lines with relatively few markets. A global underwriting leader with London and US experience points to continued expansion in both regions, which is useful for brokers placing recall programs for food, consumer products and manufacturing clients.
ICW Group has appointed Travis Noland to the new role of head of ceded reinsurance and enterprise risk management. He joined ICW in 2004 and was most recently vice president of catastrophe underwriting, leading its difference in conditions and monoline flood business. Its earthquake underwriting operation became well regarded in the reinsurance and broker market.
President Mark Moitoso said it was increasingly important for ICW to evolve how it manages risk and capital as the company diversifies and grows.
ICW’s earthquake and DIC capacity in California depends on its reinsurance program. Putting its catastrophe underwriting leader in charge of buying reinsurance should help keep that capacity steady for brokers placing quake and flood risks.
