Everest Group has appointed Lisa Davis (pictured, left) to lead its North America Wholesale & Specialty business. She will oversee underwriting strategy, distribution and protfolio management across the region.

Davis brings more than 35 years of experience in specialty insurance across wholesale markets, with a background in underwriting leadership, portfolio management and distribution strategy. She most recently led the build-out and expansion of Canopius' US business, and previously held senior roles at Sompo America, Zurich North America and St. Paul Companies.

“Along with her extensive experience, Lisa brings a combination of underwriting discipline, operational leadership, and strong relationships that are critical in this environment,” said Jason Keen, executive vice president and CEO of Global Wholesale & Specialty. “Her ability to build profitable specialty businesses, lead high‑performing teams, and deepen broker relationships will be instrumental as we continue to strengthen our North America platform, deliver disciplined, profitable growth, and execute our long‑term strategy.”

Markel promotes Da Costa to head US cyber and tech E&O

Da Costa will oversee underwriting strategy, portfolio management and product development, working closely with underwriting, claims and actuarial teams to support disciplined growth and align offerings with the shifting cyber risk environment.

Da Costa has more than 15 years’ experience across cybersecurity and insurance. Since joining Markel in 2023, he has led the strategic development and execution of US cyber and technology E&O products for middle‑market risks. He is based in New York.

“Raphael brings deep technical knowledge and strong market experience that directly benefits our brokers and customers as cyber risks continue to evolve,” said Paul Melone, executive underwriting officer, professional liability. “We’re proud to develop and promote talent from within Markel, and Raphael’s leadership strengthens our ability to support clients navigating an increasingly complex cyber and technology landscape.”
