Three men in Britain have been convicted of murdering five people as part of an insurance scam.

Arkan Ali, Hawkar Hassan and Aram Kurd were convicted late last month in Leicester Crown Court, according to an Associated Press report.

According to prosecutors, the trio blew up a supermarket last February in order to claim more than £300,000 ($380,000) from an insurance policy. They used about seven gallons of gasoline in the attack, causing an explosion that destroyed the shop and an apartment above it.

Prosecutors said that Ali, Hassan and Kurd intentionally left a supermarket employee to die in the blast because she knew about the insurance policy, taken out less than three weeks earlier. Four others were also killed in the explosion, the AP reported.
