Barbara Richardson has been named insurance commissioner of the Nevada Division of Insurance; she joins the Division this March.

Richardson replaces interim commissioner Amy Parks, who resumes her duties as the chief insurance counsel at the division.
The Division has held a nationwide recruitment program since the resignation of the previous commissioner, Scott Kipper, in July 2015.

Richardson served as the director of operations and fraud for the New Hampshire Insurance Department for 11 years, managing multiple units. She has also served as a state representative at the National Association of Insurance Commissioners. Richardson was active on a number of working groups and task forces, as well.

Richardson was formerly an adjunct professor at the University of New Hampshire School of Law and Franklin Pierce College. She was also once a private practice attorney.
