Travel insurance company Trawick International has announced that it offers trip interruption and travel medical protection plans that may cover travelers’ expenses if they contract COVID-19 while visiting New York.

“New York is a special place to visit during the holiday season and we don’t want potential visitors deterred from visiting because of COVID-19,” said Daryl Trawick, president of Trawick International. “We are proud to offer industry-leading travel protection products that will provide the necessary protection visitors will need while enjoying New York.”

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has implemented new travel guidelines for visitors to New York. Previously, travelers from states with significant community spread of the disease were required to self-quarantine for 14 days upon arrival in New York. Under the new policy, travelers must have tested negative for COVID-19 within three days of arrival to New York and have proof of the test. Once they have arrived, travelers must follow a state-mandated three-day self-isolation period. On the fourth day, travelers must get tested for the virus again. If negative, travelers are free to enjoy their time in New York. If positive, they must quarantine for 14 days.

Trawick International has also announced the launch of a travel protection product that covers tailgate events.

“All across the country, friends and families gather together to celebrate at an event of their choosing,” Trawick said. “Now, they don’t have to worry is something unforeseen happens and ruins their experience. Our Tailgate Protection will cover many of the prepaid non-refundable expenses of their tailgate event.”

The Tailgate Protection plan is designed to cover unforeseen events before or during a tailgate event, such as sickness or injuries, an accident on the way to the event, canceled flights, and more. Eligible prepaid expenses Tailgate Protection may cover include:

  • Event tickets
  • Airfare
  • Car rental
  • Cost of lodging
  • Prepaid catering for the tailgate
  • Medical expenses for sickness or injury incurred during the event
  • Rental for tent and chairs
