Global claims services provider McLarens has announced two senior leadership appointments in Latin America.
Felipe Ramirez (pictured above) has been named managing director of McLarens Latin America, while Leo Garzon will assume a new global role as senior vice president, group operations, Latin America.
Ramirez previously served as managing director for Latin America at a major global insurance services firm, overseeing a team of over 350 people. In his new role at McLarens, Ramirez will be responsible for the strategy, direction, and overall success of the company's operations across the region.
He will be based in both Mexico City and Houston, Texas, overseeing current and future operations throughout Latin America.
Ramirez is an industrial engineer with a specialty in finance, bringing extensive industry knowledge and leadership experience to the role. With over 25 years as a loss adjuster in the Latin American, US, and London markets, he has led business growth in Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Chile, and Brazil.
His experience spans diverse assignments, including oil and gas, power generation, mining, CAT events, marine, financial lines, cyber, aviation, civil liability, environmental, and business interruption.
Ramirez succeeds Garzon, the current managing director of McLarens Latin America. In his new role, Garzon will lead McLarens’ group operations in the region, focusing on expanding into new segments, partnerships, and service offerings. He will also strengthen relationships across international reinsurance markets in London and Miami.
Garzon will also continue to serve as an executive member of the global management team. With more than 25 years in forensic engineering, construction, and insurance, Garzon has extensive experience in risk and vulnerability assessments, CAT response, claims data management, and business management.
Gary Brown, CEO of McLarens, commented on the appointments, noting the significant progress made in expanding the company’s market position and building the McLarens brand in Latin America over the past two years.
“We have ambitious plans to advance our market share in the region. I am very excited to begin this new business chapter in Latin America and congratulate both Felipe and Leo on their new roles,” Brown said.
