Ironshore Environmental has enhanced its Contractors Environmental Legal Liability (CELL) program, which provides coverage for damages resulting from pollution incidents caused by contractors’ work.

The CELL policy form features comprehensive coverage for pollution liability that comes from contractors’ work, during transportation, and at non-owned sites (including staging areas). The program also provides protection for additional expenses, such as image restoration, site disinfection and pre-claim event costs.

Enhancements added to the program include cover on a time-element basis for scheduled properties owned or leased by the insured, including up to a $100,000 limit for clean-up of asbestos containing materials or lead-based paint displaced by named perils. Silt and sedimentation are also now included as a covered cause of loss under the enhanced insurance program.

CELL is offered on an occurrence basis and can be underwritten as a practice, project, or wrap-up policy. The program carries a minimum deductible of $2,500 and policy limits are available from $500,000 up to $50 million.

“Ironshore understands that contractors, now more than ever, need comprehensive protection against the financial impacts related to environmental damage,” said Ironshore Environmental president Toby Smith. “We are not satisfied relying on our industry leading coverage forms and we are constantly evaluating how to further innovate the coverage. Our enhanced CELL product is an example of such efforts.”
