Higginbotham has hired commercial P&C broker Ted Dimitry to serve as energy and marine practice leader at the independent insurance firm’s Houston office.

Dimitry most recently served as first vice-president at Alliant Insurance Services’ energy & marine group. He is a broker specializing in the oil and gas industry and has 23 years of experience in the segment. Dimitry has been named a “Who’s Who in Energy” by both Dallas Business Journal and Houston Business Journal, and the latter also included him in its “40 Under 40” class of 2012.

“The demand for expertise in energy and marine insurance is understandably high in Houston. It’s called the energy capital of the world for good reason, and Ted is a world-class expert in this field,” commented Higginbotham Houston managing partner Dudley Ray.

Ray added that Dimitry’s experience managing risk for diverse energy companies, as well as his relationships in the energy insurance market, will reinforce Higginbotham as it continues to grow its specialty practice.

Dimitry is a member of a number of civic-oriented and alumni groups, such as: Marine Insurance Seminars board of directors; Houston Marine Insurance Seminar planning committee; Houston Mariners Club; Jones Partners; Rice University Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Business Alumni Association; Washington and Lee University Houston Alumni Chapter; and the Wilchester Men’s Club.
