The MJ Charitable Foundation has awarded three $25,000 grants to nonprofits in Indianapolis, Phoenix and Denver.

The recipients are Dayspring Center, Saving Army and ActivateWork. The foundation, which is the nonprofit arm of financial services firm The MJ Companies, selected these organizations for their alignment with the foundation’s mission to overcome poverty, foster diversity, advance education and embrace humanity.

The grants will support various community initiatives, including providing assistance to homeless children and families, offering care to families in crisis, and supporting training and job attainment for marginalized groups.

The grant process was invitation-only, the foundation said, adding that over 45 nonprofits have been invited to apply. All selected organizations were chosen based on where MJ associates volunteer their time.

“The three chosen organizations align with the MJ Foundation’s pillars and our purpose to be an intentional, active force for good in our communities,” said Britini Shrout, executive director of the MJ Foundation. “We look forward to watching how this funding will empower each organization to further its mission, and the impact it will make within our communities.”

In addition to the grant, The MJ Companies’ associates raised more than $33,000 through the foundation’s Triple Match Day in December, wherein the company contributed $3 for every $1 donated to the campaign.

The foundation said its internal fundraising goal of $5,000 was surpassed within four hours of launching the campaign. The funds will support the foundation’s 2023-2025 Charities of Choice: the Dayspring Center in Indianapolis, the Centers for Habilitation in Phoenix, and Women’s Bean Project in Denver.

“We are grateful for the incredible impact the MJ team made during our Triple Match Day and throughout the Month of Giving campaign,” Shrout commented. “MJ has long been a committed community partner, and this latest campaign has shown just how big of an impact our associates can and do have.”

The Triple Match Day was part of the foundation’s Month of Giving campaign, which ran throughout December. The campaign encouraged MJ associates to give back to their local communities, with opportunities for volunteering, donations, and toy drives.
