Bold Penguin, a provider of commercial insurance technologies, has finally opened up its exclusive-use agent tool to independent agents.

The so-called Agent Terminal, which allows users to triage, quote and bind commercial insurance, was previously open only to “top 100 brokers.”

“Our belief in the trusted advisor, the insurance agent, is one of the cornerstones of Bold Penguin,” said Agent Terminal co-founder and director Marc DeLeonibus. “We are thrilled to be able to empower independent agents with help from major carriers such as Nationwide Insurance in order to provide technology that makes the process of quoting and binding commercial insurance more efficient.”

The platform has been recently adopted by major carriers such as Nationwide, Attune, Hiscox, and CNA, and has helped handle more than 950,000 small to midsize business get a commercial insurance quote, a release said.

In addition, Nationwide has collaborated with Bold Penguin to power its SME-focused online storefront, which launched this month. The storefront allows small business owners to generate a quote and bind a policy either on their own, or through an agent using the platform.

The Agent Terminal is available in all 50 states, and can handle coverage types such as general liability, workers’ compensation, professional liability, business owner’s policy (BOP), and bonds.
