Small business-focused insurtech Next Insurance has announced the appointment of Jennifer Lawrence as the company’s first general counsel.
Lawrence joins Next after four years as chief legal officer and general counsel at Noblr, a personal auto insurtech recently acquired by USAA. In that role, Lawrence oversaw the company’s legal, regulatory and government affairs teams. Lawrence has also served as general counsel for the PURE Group of Insurance Companies and OneBeacon Insurance Group.
Lawrence has also worked in the public sector. She previously served as an assistant cabinet secretary to the governor of Massachusetts. In that role, she oversaw agencies including the Division of Insurance, the Division of Banks and the Office of International Trade and Investment.

Lawrence is a founding member of the Boston chapter of Chief, an organization focused on connecting and supporting women in executive leadership positions. At Noblr, she was the founder and executive sponsor of the Women in Leadership Group, which aimed to create equal representation for women across all levels of the company.
