Davies swoops for Florida TPA

Davies, a specialist professional services and technology business serving insurance and highly regulated markets, has announced the acquisition of Johns Eastern Company, a third-party administrator and independent adjusting firm focusing on workers’ compensation, auto, trucking, general liability, property, and motor truck cargo claims.

Florida-headquartered Johns Eastern manages the claims process through to settlement for large insurer, self-insured corporates, public entities, and the Lloyd’s of London market.

With the acquisition, Johns Eastern will form part of Davies’s established claims operations in the US. Don Lederer, president and CEO of Johns Eastern, will continue to lead the business while assuming additional responsibilities as CEO of Davies’s TPA operations in the US. He will report to Matt Button, CEO of Davies US.

In recent years, Davies has expanded its US operations through a combination of organic and M&A growth. The firm now has claims capability spanning the property and casualty, life and health, and transportation insurance markets. Davies’s US offering includes a full range of TPA and loss-adjusting services across all 50 states, as well as captive management, auditing, actuarial, subrogation, excess claims management, and risk and inspection services.

Globally, Davies has more than 6,000 employees operating across the US, the UK, Bermuda, Canada, India, Ireland, Spain, and Switzerland.

“I’m thrilled to welcome Don and the entire Johns Eastern team to Davies,” said Dan Saulter, CEO of Davies. “The business has an excellent reputation in the market for its long-lasting relationships with clients and for its employees’ experience and tenure, dedication and exceptional service delivery.”

“I’m really pleased that Johns Eastern is joining Davies,” Lederer said. “Over recent years, Davies has accelerated into the US market, and by combining our businesses we have a stronger service proposition for insurance clients who are seeking to engage with a trusted partner that heavily invests in technology and delivers outstanding service experiences. I look forward to seeing the enlarged business bring additional development opportunities for our people and clients and to working with Dan, Matt and the wider Davies team to develop and strengthen our claims business in the US.”
