More media attention should be given to telematics and not eDocuments, says one broker, who feels that technology will have a greater impact on the industry.

“Let's focus on UBI ( usage-based insurance) and the impact of telematics on the auto product and engage in a more intelligent conversation,” says Normand Haas, of IBMG Canada. “This entire topic is so old school and annoying, it sounds like a broker record.”

Haas was commenting on the article, ‘Adopting eDocs – what are you waiting for?’ which examined how brokers are adopting and incorporating eDocs into their business.

One broker, Rima Dresher, the owner and general manager of Affiliated Insurance Management Inc., in Oakville, Ont., told Insurance Business that her brokerage has been using eDocs for a couple of years now.

“There were immediate results once we got it up and running,” she said. “It’s been great, and I don’t know why any broker wouldn’t take advantage of it.”
