Travelers Canada has launched its new usage-based auto insurance mobile app, IntelliDrive.

IntelliDrive offers customers a better understanding of their driving habits, by collecting and assessing data on typical driver behaviours such as hard braking, rapid acceleration, speed, distraction, and the time of day that customers drive. Those detected as responsible drivers will be offered discounts on their auto insurance.

A release said that drivers can save up to 30% on their auto insurance premiums at renewal, should IntelliDrive detect that they are safe drivers. Meanwhile, new customers can save up to 10% when they enrol. On the flip side, risky driving habits may result in higher premiums.

On top of tracking driver behaviour, IntelliDrive provides helpful resources, such as information on the number of consecutive drives taken without interacting with a smartphone; a dashboard that allows drivers to track their performance; and informative articles that offer safe driving tips.

“We’re continuously enhancing our products and services to provide our customers with the best possible experience,” said Travelers Canada president and CEO Heather Masterson. “Through IntelliDrive, we’re providing policyholders with the opportunity to further personalize their insurance rates while helping to create safer roadways for everyone.”
