One major Canadian insurer has scooped up a rival’s VP to spearhead its executive management team.

Michelle Dodokin has joined EGI Financial Holdings Inc. as senior vice president, Ontario and Western Canada.

Dodokin joins EGI coming from a four-year stint with Intact Insurance, where she gained experience in senior leadership roles in personal lines businesses, underwriting operations, corporate strategy and investor and government relations.

“Michelle is a great addition to our company and our team,” said Steve Dobronyi, EGI's Chief Executive Officer.  “She will provide us with the skills and leadership that we need and will fit well with the culture of our organization. I'm looking forward to working with her to deliver the next phase of profitable growth at our company.”

Dodokin was the vice president of corporate affairs and communications with Intact Financial Corporation since April, 2014.

She had been with Intact Insurance since January 2010, as vice president, finance, Ontario and Atlantic regions before moving up the corporate ladder to become the VP of Grey Power Insurance Brokers & Trafalgar Insurance within Intact in 2011.

Dodokin will be responsible for all aspects of strategy development, marketing & distribution, product, underwriting and operations for the Ontario and Western regions. She will also play a broader leadership role in the organization, through certain corporate responsibilities and as a member of EGI's executive management team.

Founded in 1997, EGI operates in the property and casualty insurance industry in Canada and Europe, primarily focusing on non-standard automobile insurance and other niche and specialty P&C insurance products.
