A global medical assistance provider has announced the launch of its new mobile app TravelAid.  The GPS-enabled app, free in the Apple Store and Google Play, was designed to assist Canadians with medical and health care concerns, no matter their location.

“As our methods of communication change and more people travel to various locations around the globe, we looked for ways we could meet the needs of customers in real time,” said Active Care Management (ACM) executive vice president David Rivelis.

Prominent features of the app include immediate assistance from ACM staff during an emergency, directions to the nearest hospital or medical center and customer support in the claims submission process.

Rivelis says feedback to the app so far has been “exceptionally positive,” with many users appreciating its convenience and the ease in which they can find nearby medical facilities. In addition, they enjoy a more seamless claims process, which boasts such provisions as the ability to submit a bill by way of a smartphone photo.

“The ability to start claims forms and relay information to pay the claim is something customers and travelers are excited about, as it makes their life simple,” Rivelis said.

Since ACM’s objective is to “exceed client expectations, not just meet them,” it is preparing to unroll phase two of the app, which sends “push notifications” alerting travelers of potential emergencies such as natural disasters or political unrest.

“Our globe is getting smaller and our life is getting faster, so we’re always working to meet the needs of policyholders and clients,” said Rivelis.
