Global non-profit association Efma has introduced a new chairman – a well-known figure in the insurance industry.

Jean-Marc Paihol (pictured), who is the head of global strategic partnerships and a board member at Allianz Partners, has spent his career working for major insurers and banks. These include starting his career with Banque Populaire, where he spent 15 years, before moving to Group La Poste, and then spending the last decade with Allianz Group in a number of roles.

“I look forward to starting my tenure as chairman at Efma,” said Paihol. “With its 120 financial group members in 133 countries, the organization is ideally placed at the centre of innovation, customers, and financial services. Efma can and should play a major role in understanding the tremendous challenges the financial industry will have to face in the near future, and support and facilitate this major transformation.”

According to Efma, it is Paihol’s background which makes them confident of his ability to understand the major trends shaping financial services. As such, he has been chosen to replace Yolande Piazza, who has contributed to the non-profit for the last three years.

“2020 has been a very disruptive year for everyone,” noted Efma CEO John Berry. “Going forward, the role of Efma will continue to be assisting our members thanks to our extensive insights, knowledge sharing, and best practices from other like-minded financial players facing similar challenges across the globe. The appointment of Jean-Marc aligns perfectly with these objectives. His experience and vision will help Efma evolve and remain a valuable resource for all players in the industry.”
